THE TIME THAT REMAINS
Piano Trio

I AM NOBODY
"I Am Nobody" for piano and soprano takes its inspiration from the haunting poem by Emily Dickinson, delving into the themes of anonymity, isolation, and the silence that surrounds personal existence. The atonal and dark harmonic textures mirror the emotional depth of Dickinson's words, creating an atmosphere of mystery and quiet despair. The dissonant, unresolved harmonies enhance the sense of alienation and introspection, allowing the voice to express the poignancy of being "nobody" in a world that often demands recognition. This piece invites the listener to reflect on the fragile nature of identity, shrouded in darkness and uncertainty.

ABROGARE IL MAX
"Abrogare il Max" is a non-tonal ensemble piece centered on the exploration of intense, powerful dynamics. The composition challenges the performers to push the limits of sound, using forceful contrasts and sudden shifts that evoke both tension and release. The piece is built around the concept of wualxosa, an imagined force that disrupts the conventional flow of music, creating a sonic landscape that is simultaneously chaotic and controlled. Each instrument contributes to the unfolding narrative, with moments of brutal intensity and delicate subtlety, capturing a sense of struggle and transformation.

MINIMAL SKETCH No. 1
Part of a 4-piece series, this first sketch focuses on a rhythmic pattern with subtle variations
in melodic cells, while the melody remains static, creating a strong emphasis on rhythm and
dynamics.

LEMUREN
“Lumuren” for piano and flute explores the use of extended techniques within an atonal framework, drawing inspiration from the Lemuren in Goethe's Faust. These ghostly, spectral figures, who represent disturbed souls, move silently through the soundscape, creating a palpable stillness and a haunting weight upon the listener's soul. The performance is imbued with a sense of ethereal presence, where each note seems to linger in the air, pressing against the very fabric of time and space.

MINIMAL SKETCH No. 2
The second piece in the series of 4 shifts towards a more melodic approach, with minimalist
harmony and little harmonic variation, creating a smooth, introspective atmosphere.
